Recordings
The recording was made in the family home in 1994. While the singing style fully corresponds to loke gila, the form of the song is noticeably different, featuring two parts with both the first and second melodic parts repeated.

Ruža Šej is based on the melody of the Adagio from Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez which premiered in Barcelona in 1940. It became popular through numerous adaptations by different orchestras and artists. Mišo Nikolić wrote lyrics in Romani to the melody, and Ruža Nikolić-Lakatos incorporated her own name into it. She emphasized several times that the song was one of her favourites. The Gypsy Family also named one of their CDs after the song.
Based on a male perspective, Ruža Šej is about a man’s longing for his beloved named Ruža. It is the favourite song of singer Ruža Nikolić-Lakatos. The recording was made during a concert at the Interkulttheater in 1994.
Ruža Nikolić-Lakatos and The Gypsy Family published this version of the song with the same name on their CD Ruzsa Shej.
