Recording

E trin vorbi is a love song revolving around the three words “I love you.” The recording comes from the CD of the same name by Ruža Nikolić-Lakatos and The Gypsy Family.

Musical transcription from the diploma thesis “Ruža Nikolić-Lakatos: Roma singer of the Lovara”, 1999 by Monika Scherer

E trin vorbi was written by Ruža Nikolić-Lakatos and her son Sascha Nikolić and is classified as a neve gila. Sascha’s musical influence is clearly audible and Ruža Nikolić-Lakatos gladly follows his lead. It is a modern song that is quite popular within the community. Very few recordings by Ruža herself exist.

Commentary

(GERMAN ONLY) Manuela Nikolić, the daughter of Ruža Nikolić-Lakatos and Mišo Nikolić, explains the meaning of E trin vorbi in a field research interview. She emphasizes that it is a love song.
